Arianna Alford- Hip Hop Choreographer and Instructor

Picture
Arianna is a Senior at Texas State where she is pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography with a minor in Business Administration. Her love for dance started at Lorna Badon’s School of Fine Arts where she trained in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics. During her high school career, she was part of the Orange Jazz Dance Company and also created/coached the first junior high dance team at Community Christian School. Before moving to San Marcos, Arianna attended Lamar University. During that time, she was part of the Lamar University Dance Team, Alpha Chi Omega, and taught at two different studios with a few different choreography jobs on the side. After graduating, she hopes to work as a cruise line performer, move to Houston to achieve a degree in Marketing, and continue teaching and choreographing. She is so excited to join the WDE staff and continue sharing her passion for dance!

Erin Ellis- Contemporary Choreographer

Picture
Raised in Austin, Texas, Erin Ellis began taking dance at the age of three. She grew up dancing in local studios and began competing and attending conventions. In high school Erin became involved in the Bowie Dance Company along with the school’s drill team. She was a member, jazz company performer, and Senior Lieutenant of the James Bowie High School Silver Stars.  After continuing to dance and compete through high school, Erin realized that she wanted to continue dancing in college, so she auditioned for the Kilgore College Rangerettes. After being selected for the team, Erin was given many incredible performance opportunities, including the Cotton Bowl Classic, opening the State Fair of Texas, the Contest of Champions in Orlando, Florida, Houston Texans NFL game halftime, participating in the 75th commemoration of the attack of Pearl Harbor, the 90th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Rangerette Revels. She was also a Swingster and Revels soloist. While in Kilgore, Erin received her Associates of Arts. She was the Vice President of the Kilgore College Dance Department Dance Club, and a member of the department’s modern company, Industry. In 2017 she began working for Marching Auxiliaries Dance Camps and Competitions. She is currently working on receiving her Bachelor's in Dance Education at Texas State University, and teaching at various studios in the greater Austin area.

The Elite Dance Company (EDC) is a competitive team of dancers ages 5 and up who wish to be part of a rigorous dance program that focuses on advancing technical and performance skills in all genres.  EDC's purpose is to train and develop diverse and skilled performers, and to provide performance and competition opportunities throughout the year.We take great pride in EDC and have high expectations for all members.  EDC is a by audition only.

EDC Mission:

*Excite  *Lead  *Inspire *Team  *Excellence

The mission of Elite Dance Company is to provide excellence in dance training through intensive rehearsal processes in a variety of dance genres with professionals in the field that offers pre-professional and competitive dance experiences for all its members.

EDC Expectations:

  • Members are expected to understand and demonstrate, to the BEST of his or her ability, a knowledge of techniques and dance vocabularies, i.e. Ballet, Tap and Jazz/Hip Hop
  • KEEPING THE LINES OF COMMUNICATION WIDE OPEN IS IMPERATIVE. Members and Parents MUST keep WDE informed about any and all scheduling conflicts.
  • Members are expected to be fully present in all rehearsals, energetic, consistent, dependable, fully attentive and committed all semester. WORKING HARD in all rehearsals, tours (when available), and performances are absolutely necessary.
  • GOOD ATTITUDE and RESPECT FOR TEAM.  Members are expected to keep a positive, open-minded, respectful and considerate attitude in and outside the studio.
  • PROMPTNESS.  Being prompt is extremely important for yourself and for your team.
  • SUPPORT of all company members.  EDC members are expected to support and encourage each other throughout the season.
  • COSTUMES: Members of the competition team will wear separate costumes for each routine they are part of. (In addition to regular technique class uniforms) These costumes will be worn at competition, all performances and in the Spring Concert. In order to best fit a routine, certain costumes will be ordered from a professional costume company. If necessary, a final fitting with a seamstress will be done. Rhinestones may be added to the costume. WDE always strives to do their best to keep costumes at a reasonable cost while ensuring we have a high-quality, professional dance wardrobe.
  • HAIR & MAKE-UP: All dancers will be required to have the same make-up & hair for individual competition works, performances and for the Spring Concert. A uniform look on stage is best.  As the competition season approaches, EDC will have a hair and make-up class and a list of suggested make-up to purchase on you own.
  •  COMPETITION AWARDS: Trophies earned by soloists will be given to the individual dancer. Duo/Trio trophies will be evenly distributed to each dancer throughout the competition season. Group/Line/Production trophies will be displayed at the studio. Any cash prizes at a Regional of National Competition will go directly to the team account.
