The Elite Dance Company (EDC) is a competitive team of dancers ages 5 and up who wish to be part of a rigorous dance program that focuses on advancing technical and performance skills in all genres. EDC's purpose is to train and develop diverse and skilled performers, and to provide performance and competition opportunities throughout the year. We take great pride in EDC and have high expectations for all members. EDC is a by audition only.

If we have continuous problems with any EDC dancer, the faculty will discuss further corrective action that may be needed. This may include: dancer losing performance opportunities, solo privileges, or even removal from the EDC team.

EDC Expectations
Required Classes, Rehearsals and more-
- Members are required to train in Ballet, Technique, Stretch and Strength, and one other genre of choice each week.
- There are 2 mandatory rehearsals and will be required to take 1 or more private lessons each month in preparation for competitions.
- EDC has additional performance opportunities at events such as Christmas Recital, Spring Recital and Emily Ann trail of lights. They are required to be involved in these community events.
- EDC competes in a number of mandatory and optional competitions/conventions each year.
- KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL: Members are expected to understand and demonstrate, to the BEST of his or her ability, knowledge of techniques and dance vocabularies in a variety of genres including Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Acro, Jazz and Hip Hop.
- COSTUMES: Costumes are at the total discretion of WDE. Members of the competition team will wear separate costumes for each routine they are part of (in addition to regular technique class uniforms). These costumes will be worn at competitions and performances. In order to best fit a routine, certain costumes will be ordered from a professional costume company. If necessary, a final fitting with a seamstress will be done. Rhinestones may be added to the costume. WDE always strives to do their best to keep costumes at a reasonable cost while ensuring we have a high-quality, professional dance wardrobe.
- HAIR and MAKE-UP: Hair and make-up are at the total discretion of WDE. All dancers will be required to have the same make-up and hair for individual competition works, performances and for the Spring Concert. A uniform look on stage is best. As the competition season approaches, EDC will have a hair and make-up class and a list of suggested make-up to purchase on your own.
- COMPETITION AWARDS: Trophies earned by soloists will be given to the individual dancer. Duo/Trio trophies displayed at the studio unless all dancers/parents want to purchase additional trophies. Group/Line/Production trophies will be displayed at the studio. Any cash prizes at a Regional or National Competition will go directly to WDE.
- ABSENCES: Attendance is mandatory at EDC rehearsals and required classes. Absences need to be discussed with Coach Lowery and Mrs. Adeline.
- PRESENCE: Members are expected to be fully present in all rehearsals. They must be energetic, consistent, dependable, fully attentive and committed. Hard work in all rehearsals, competitions and performances is absolutely necessary so dancers must be in class and at attention.
- PROMPTNESS: Being prompt is extremely important for yourself and for your team. If a dancer is late, they will be required to do pushups.
- 2 WEEK PRE-PERFORMANCE MANDATORY ZONE: Dancers are required to be at all lessons and rehearsals in the two week period prior to performances. If a dancer misses, the company director can remove him or her from said performance, depending on the best interest of the team as determined by the director.
- SUPPORT: EDC members are expected to support and encourage each other throughout the season. The expectation is 100% of all teammates will support each other as a team.
- OPEN COMMUNICATION: EDC leaders are available to discuss your concerns. Members and parents are asked to keep Instructors and Directors informed about changes that could affect a dancer’s performance in rehearsal.
- GOOD ATTITUDE and RESPECT FOR TEAM. Members are expected to keep a positive, open-minded, respectful and considerate attitude both in and outside the studio. Elite Dance Company is a place for exemplary dancers.
- Demonstrating leadership and/or taking leadership roles
- Noteworthy supportive and encouraging behavior towards his/her team
- Being a role model in the studio, for the team and in the community
Corrective Encouragement:
- Disrespect towards an authority figure, team or team member, and/or company members as defined by Wimberley Dance Elite: 1st offense, 20 push ups (or equivalent, depending on instructor); if this behavior continues after the 1st offense, the dancer may be asked to leave class.
- Body shaming, inappropriate social media conduct, bullying and/or cyber bullying as defined by Wimberley Dance Elite: 1st offense, 10 burpees (or equivalent, depending on instructor); if this continues after the 1st offense, we will hold a meeting with dancer and the parent(s) and the dancer may lose performance opportunities.
- Failure to wear correct EDC dance attire: 10 Push-ups (or equivalent, depending on instructor) per item of dance clothing/shoes
- Unexcused absences: If Absences are not communicated thoroughly with Coach Lowery or Mrs Adeline, after 3 offences, a meeting will be help to discuss dancer losing performance opportunities.
