We are so excited to continue and expand our collaboration with Wimberley ISD and bring Pom & Dance to Danforth Junior High. We are so glad you are interested in joining the team! It's going to be a very special year!
Here are some things you need to know:
WHAT TYPE OF DANCE WILL THE TEAM BE DOING?
Solid technique, physical strength & spirited performance skills comprise our ideal dancers. We are very focused on entertaining our crowds with school spirit – so a strong dynamic & energetic execution of choreography is vital. The Danforth Pom & Dance Team performs the four (4) styles of dance performed on college & professional dance teams:
JAZZ – clean lines, strong carriage, crisp turns, strong jumps, ballet technique, flexibility & strength
HIP HOP – energy, natural sense of style, isolations, confidence & ability to entertain the crowd
POM – body control, strength of movement, placement, performance skills, sharp motions
KICK – straight lines, extensions, posture, strength

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS?
Danforth Pom & Dance Team Expectations
Members of the team are expected to conduct themselves in a positive, respectful manner. They must be aware that as soon as they join the team, their actions and words are representing their team, their teammates, their coaches, their school and their community. Team members are expected to show support for all WISD organizations and display positive sportsmanship at all times.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES?

WHAT IS THE COST?
Team class and rehearsal is offered at $50.00 per month and will be held Monday afternoons from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Wimberley Dance Elite, 100 Melody Way, Suites B and E.
There will be additional fees for uniforms of no more than $200. This will cover their boots, poms, rehearsal and performance attire, undergarments and hair bows.

WHO ARE MY INSTRUCTORS?
The Danforth Pom & Dance Team will be led by the esteemed faculty of Wimberley Dance Elite:
- April Hobson, Co-owner and Artistic Director- dancer, choreographer and teacher with two decades experience, Television, commercial, film and stage work, Producing and choreographing over three hundred national title dances.
- Victoria Wilson, Teacher- currently a Senior at Texas State University majoring in Dance Education, former member of the Texas State Strutters Dance Team, Co-coach of the WHS Texan Stars Pom and Dance Team.
- Nicole Wesley, Co-owner and Artistic Director- Assistant Professor of Dance at Texas State University, MFA in Dance from Texas Woman's University, BFA in Dance at UT Austin.

- Members will realize their first role is a student of WISD, and second a member of the Danforth Pom & Dance Team.
- A minimum 2.5 GPA is required before acceptance on the team and members will maintain that academic standard the entire season.
- Members will acknowledge that as part of the Danforth Pom & Dance Team, they are a highly visible school leader. Members will uphold this role with positive and appropriate behavior. Members will treat themselves and others with integrity and respectfulness at all times.
- Once placed on the team, members are expected to commit for the entire academic year.
- Members will maintain proper nutrition and make healthy choices.
- Members will acknowledge that any Dance Team member drinking, smoking, bullying, cyberbullying, using drugs, fighting, or associating themselves with any other illegal behavior will be automatically dismissed from the program and referred to school administration.
- Members and team member families will respect the decisions of the coaching staff and school administration. All decisions are final.
- Members will acknowledge that if selected for the team, they will follow the Danforth Pom & Dance Team Guidelines, WISD Code of Conduct and WISD Athletic Handbook.
