The Story of the 21st Century Stars

The Beginning

In January of 2017, Wimberley Dance Elite approached WISD and Wimberley High School about collaborating to start a dance team.  Both Mr. York, the WISD superintendent, and Mr. Valentine, the Wimberley High School principal, were hopeful and appreciative, but also hesitant.  The last attempt at a dance team was disappointing and the school leaders were concerned about the potential of more disappointment for their students.    But love won again.  The district's love for its students and desire to provide opportunities and our love for dance and desire to bring it to our community is beautifully real.  The 2017-2018 Texan Stars led by WDE's Victoria Wilson and Julia Hutcherson established the team as a permanent and growing organization for the students of WHS and the town of Wimberley.  The 2018-2019 Texan Stars are thirteen amazing young women, supported by thirteen amazing families, and are led by Coach Ashley Redding, a veteran Texas State Strutter and Senior set to graduate with an education degree in Dance and Secondary Math.  Wimberley Dance Elite is proud to sponsor this team and grateful for the opportunity to serve this community.

The Middle

The 2019-2020 Texan Stars were coached by Rebecca Selsor and were the first team to attend drill camp.
